Or pick up the novella (Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption) by one of the most underrated modern authors, Stephen King. Of all King's works, Shawshank, The Green Mile, The Body (Stand By Me is the name of the film adaptation), and The Gunslinger are by far my favorites.
