Sup guys! I used my Canon Rebel XT (350D) at the time, but you can do it with any camera that has manual settings

Basically, meter for the background, so the whole area is well exposed, and that SHOULD give you a long enough shutter speed to drag out the lights like that. It should really only need about 2-4 seconds to make that cool effect. Oh yea, a tripod is a must when doing this long of exposure!

If metering for the background doesn't give you a long enough shutter (it should) just lower your ISO, raise the aperture, and drag out the shutter... good times! Except with all that camera shit you'll be carrying around - you wont get to go on any rides! LOL

Thanks for all the kind words - oh yea, Boryn, your pics amaze me! Especially the wedding ones and the motorcycle ones! I got my 30D the other day, and decided, hey - new camera needs a new lens right? LOL So I got a 70-200 2.8L!! Hahaha, so now, I have the 30D w/ 70-200 2.8L and the 350D with the 24-70 2.8L - needless to say - I've been shooting my ASS off!

Do it! I bet you wont be sorry! Photography is so great, relaxing, expressive, useful, money-making (sometimes). I'm trying to make a career out of it!
