They are annelid worms. They are massed together and attached at the joints in the pipe, when one contracts, it causes all of the other worms massed together to involuntarily contract, so it looks almost as if its a muscle or an alien creature.

Annelids: a large phylum of segmented worms, including ragworms, earthworms and leeches.

They still need to be blown up.
