Top 5 Movies to watch in 1080p

Post by pezcore »

Soooo

Since I set up my Media Center PC, I have been downloading HD movies like a MACHINE !

What other movies should I watch ? What are your top 5 - 10 movies to watch in HD ?

These are some that i have enjoyed so far (all 1080P versions)

1.Event Horizon
2.Sunshine (Similar to Event Horizon)
3.Casino Royale (Quality is amazing)
4.Black Hawk Down
5.Case 39
6.Saving Private Ryan
7.Ghostbusters
8.Minority Report (looks amazing in 1080P)
9.Lord of the Rings Trilogy (quality of bluray not that good)
10.Matrix Trilogy
11.Forgetting Sarah Marshall
12.Step Brothers

I find the older movies look pretty grainy in 1080P (Ghostbusters, Aliens etc)

What are your favourites ? (mainly so i can download them)

If you are strictly looking for quality of picture and not actual content I would suggest:

Transformers 1 or 2 doesnt matter
Iron Man
Avatar (haven't watched it at home yet but if it's anything close to the theater it will look amazing)

I will list more as I think of them.

I watched Avatar in IMAX 3D, and then watched the blu-ray at home, I have to say I enjoyed the blu-ray more, so yea that's a definite d/l for you.

Other suggestions would be:
Ghost Rider - I love the flaming skull and the scene with the new and old GH ridhing alongside each other in the desert. This is one of the most classic comic book frames ever put to bed and it translated very well on screen.

Gladiator - Simply the best movie every made.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight should be good in HD.

These are some of my favs that have not yet been mentioned.

Yeah I have Avatar, the picture quality is on a different level compared to other HD movies. I bought the Avatar Blu-Ray Disk to see if I could see a difference in quality between the Avatar I downloaded off the net, and the actual Blu-Ray, and yea I could not tell the difference on a 46 Inch LCD.

So yeah, now I just stick to downloading them...
The .x264 Rips look amazing and the file size is not too bad usually around 8 - 12 GB's

Sunshine was great, and a totally underrated film.

I'm not sure if it comes in 1080, but the climbing film King Lines ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1144805/ ) would be fun to watch on a big crisp screen. Even if you're not a climber, Chris Sharma is fucking amazing and inspiring to watch. Plus the visuals are spectacular, at a normal resolution or not.

Movies that are probably in HD:

Watchmen
Earth (that multiple segment Earth documentary. Nothing says amazing in HD like Great White Sharks jumping ten feet out of the water with a seal in their mouths)
Hellboy II
