Large army isn't 50 units though.pezcore wrote:Yeah I was aware that you could bind keys to buildings etc, but I wasnt aware that you could group more than 1 building to a single key and have it pump out multiple units. that really helps in creating a large army fast !
90 Minute Starcraft II Match
You have 200 unit points. Unless you build an army of marines, you aren't going to have anywhere near 200 units since everything else takes 2-6 unit points. It will be more around 50-75, 100 at absolute most. Don't forget you have your little workers that gather shit also taking 1 unit point. You are probably going to have more than one attack / defense group as well, so even if you have an army of just marines, it's not going to consist of all your unit points and probably be about 50 units.Tord wrote:Where do you keep getting 50 units from? Are you being serious or exaggerating?
That's for a long game. A short game you are probably going to have far less since you don't even have time to build the supply depots to get 200 unit points.
Yeah and my point is that the small scale is really boring to me. I find it anti-climactic when wiping out an enemy base that's like half a dozen buildings. I'm just really used to large scale battles in Supreme Commander where taking out a hard AI is very difficult and will probably require you to hit the full 500 unit limit (10x what you find in SC2 on average). Not to mention the strategy options possible with such large scale.Tord wrote:You are correct, I didn't think about it that way. I think I just got the wrong impression from you post

Yeah, a large game is an hour, sometimes 90 minutes. 15-20 minute games can happen with rush tactics but I don't find them fun... plus you can't rush the hard AI, you will lose. Are you really concerned about a long game when our raids last 3 hours?shadowrage wrote:as i remember from Sup Comm don't those matches take a lot longer to play when doing those huge armies and battles?
I did a match yesterday that we ended up in a stalemate, both of us killed the other's main buildings and didn't have enough to make another. I killed off his miners and couldn't do anything else. He said "see you later..leaving the comp on" I said the same and 5 min later he came back and said "rock scissor paper to see who drops? I won, he left otherwise it would have lasted 9 hours, the max time limit.
Oh wow Poobs, I have had some close matches like that too, but never a Stalemate.Poobah wrote:I did a match yesterday that we ended up in a stalemate, both of us killed the other's main buildings and didn't have enough to make another. I would'nt know anything about Supcomm, I remember installing it and when I saw how dated the graphics looked, I removed it :O
Suddenly The Newsroom Got Very Quiet.
The map allows you to zoom out so far the graphics do look dated (instead of just having a tiny box that you can view like SC2), but when you zoom in, they are detailed.pezcore wrote:Oh wow Poobs, I have had some close matches like that too, but never a Stalemate.
